DESCRIPTION:This year’s Richmond Invasive Species Awareness Week (RISAW) kicks off at Pony Pasture on Sunday\, February 22 and events continue through Saturday\, February 28. SUMMARY:Live Stakes Collection Volunteer Event
DESCRIPTION:Partners of the Upper & Middle James Riparian Consortium are focused on restoring riparian forest buffers across the Upper and Middle James River watershed. Some streambanks face more erosion than others. Live staking is a low-cost\, low-engineering strategy that can be a tool in stabilizing streambanks. \nWe will be harvesting and collecting live stakes in multiple locations throughout Albemarle County. More information will be provided to those who sign up! Locations and times are subject to change. \nAll tools and instructions will be provided\, and you will be working alongside a collection lead. All ages are welcome\, but youth under age 18 should have a parent or guardian present\, and participants will need to be comfortable being outside for several hours\, traversing uneven ground\, and handling a good amount of walking. \nSign up here!
