SUMMARY:River Hero Homes Webinar: Compost for Healthy Soil
DESCRIPTION:Date/Time: Thursday\, May 28\, 2026 at 6:00 pm\nLocation: Virtual (Zoom) \nAccording to the Environmental Protection Agency\, food is the most common material sent to landfills. More than half of greenhouse gas emissions from landfills come from wasted food. The good news? This waste can be put to better use through composting. Composting is the practice of recycling nutrients in organic materials. Compost is a biologically-stable soil amendment that is produced through the decomposition of organic materials including food scraps\, yard trimmings\, and paper products. \nJoin the James River Association on Thursday\, May 28 at 6:00 PM for a River Hero Homes Webinar on the benefits of composting at home and local composting programs available to residents of the James River watershed. Ryan Owenby of NOPE Compost Co. and Ryan Duckett of the Virginia Composting Council will share their knowledge and expertise on how to begin composting at home \nRegister Now!
