SUMMARY:Citizen Science with JRA Teacher Professional Learning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you want students to DO science in your class? Learn how JRA collects data to inform its policy actions and programs on a series of exciting field trips. Journey on the Spirit of the James to trawl and catalog fish on the James’ bottom\, become a field scientist by collecting data with our James RiverWatch program\, and conduct field research of invasive species in Richmond’s parks! Participants will design a data-driven lab of their chosen topic to use in their classes this school year. \nEvent will be hosted at the James A. SUMMARY:Green Infrastructure & Problem-Based Learning Teacher Professional Learning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Work with JRA to design a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) module for your class in an exciting 3-day workshop. Take a series of field trips from the James A. Buzzard River Education Center to new green infrastructure projects across central Virginia\, and design your own green building with materials and tools provided by JRA. \nOur schedule changes daily\, but we will start each day at 9am at the James A. Buzzard River Education Center located at 2825 Dock Street\, Richmond\, VA 23223 \nEvent Dates:\nElementary School Program: June 10-12\, 2026; 9 am – 4 pm\nMiddle School Program: June 24-26\, 2026; 9 am – 4 pm\nHigh School Program: July 15-17\, 2026; 9 am – 4 pm \nThanks to grant funding\, the cost of this program is reduced to $30 per participant. Teachers will receive classroom materials valued at $250 as part of their registration. \nRegister now! \n
