We have had another successful year removing tires from the James River! Discarded tires are not only an eyesore on our waterways, but they can adversely impact wildlife habitat and reduce people’s enjoyment of the river. Thanks to volunteers from the Boy Scouts of America Heart of Virginia Council the James River now has a few less tires!
On Saturday, October 6, dozens of volunteers for the Boy Scouts of America Heart of Virginia Council, took to the river for the sixth annual Tire-Less James cleanup event and together we removed 166 tires from the James. The boys spent several hours Saturday pulling tires from the river’s shore in Charles City County.
A tremendous thanks goes to all of the volunteers, event sponsors, and tirerecyclers.com for providing free hauling and recycling of the tires collected.
