Backyard Buffer Design Workshop – Chesterfield

Join the Upper and Middle James Riparian Consortium for a hands-on Backyard Buffer Design Workshop in Chesterfield. This free workshop will provide practical experience with conducting a site assessment and designing a backyard buffer, with special attention to the different design considerations of small residential sites.
The workshop is intended for riparian landowners, landscape designers, and others interested in backyard buffer restoration. Nicola McGoff of Wild Ginger Field Services and David Hirschman of Hirschman Water & Environment will facilitate the workshop along with local partners.
An optional Desktop Site Assessment session will be offered from 9:00 to 9:45 AM before the main workshop and will introduce tools including local GIS viewers, Web Soil Survey, Google Earth, and USGS StreamStats. The main workshop runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and includes field activities, site assessment practice, VCAP information, design concepts, small-group work, and lunch.
Space is limited to 25 participants. The specific meeting location will be shared with registered participants.
