Virtual Info Session – JRA Programs for Teens: Summer Expeditions + FLOW

Join us for a virtual information session to learn more about two exciting opportunities for teens: James River Expeditions and Future Leaders of Our Waters (FLOW). These programs help students build skills, confidence, and a deeper connection to the James River.
James River Expeditions
A five-day, four-night paddling and camping experience for students ages 14–18. Participants travel the river by day and camp along its banks by night while learning outdoor skills, teamwork, and environmental science.
Application deadline: May 10
Future Leaders of Our Waters (FLOW)
A selective, year-long leadership program for rising 10th–12th grade students in the Richmond area. Participants explore environmental science, advocacy, and policy while developing leadership skills and completing a capstone project.
Application deadline: May 10
During the session, we’ll cover:
- What each program experience looks like
- Skills students will gain in both programs (paddling, leadership, field science, advocacy)
- Program expectations, eligibility, and time commitment
- Key dates, logistics, and how to apply
Leaders from our Education Team will facilitate the session and be available for questions.
