Water, Forests & Mussels: A Day with Nature at Bear Creek Lake State Park

Spend a day with conservationists exploring the connections between healthy forests, clean water, and thriving wildlife. Participants will learn about freshwater mussels and migratory fish, native plants and streamside forests, and how land restoration can help protect freshwater ecosystems.
Morning activities will include educational stations focused on mussels, their life cycles, and their impact on aquatic ecosystems. After lunch participants can take part in a paddle trip to learn about riparian buffers and wetlands, or stay on land for native tree identification, benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring, and nature-themed watercolor painting.
This event is free, but registration is required. Lunch is provided.
