Help the James - on the Water
Use your time on the river to give back to its health.
Below are great volunteer opportunities for individuals who enjoy time on the James. If you routinely spend time fishing, paddling, or boating the James or one of its tributaries, these are great ways to get involved! When you become a James Changing volunteer, you are joining a network of passionate and supportive river lovers across the Watershed, from the Alleghany Highlands to the Chesapeake Bay.
Find ways you can change the James below, and then record your actions to Be a James Changer!
Patrol your river
Our RiverRat volunteers document potential pollution issues, natural patterns in river hydrology, and wildlife sightings.
