On September 22, 2016, the State Water Control Board approved a permit to allow discharge of wastewater from coal ash and other ongoing process from the Chesterfield Power Station into the James River. While we were hopeful to have some key changes made to the permit, we are grateful for the many citizens who submitted comments on behalf of the James. Your support helped strengthen the river’s voice.

We are evaluating if the James River Association will take any additional steps on this permit and will keep our Action Network updated throughout the process. We are also looking toward preparing for the solid waste permits that will be out for public review this winter for both the Dominion-Bremo and Dominion-Chesterfield Power Stations. At that time, the James River Association will once again need your support to stand up for the health of the James.
