Volunteer to help us plant 1,428 trees this fall!
Tis the season!…for tree planting. While we’re watching the leaves turn golden yellow, ruby red, and rustic brown, most people don’t think about planting new trees. Yet planting in wintertime provides the best chance for success for the next generation of trees. During the growing season, trees make energy to store during the dormant months when they do most of the root growth. Also, stress levels are also much lower during the winter, meaning watering isn’t needed as much.
We’re gearing up for this year’s planting season and could use your help. James River Association is planting 1,428 trees across the counties of Albemarle, Amherst, Nelson and Fluvanna this fall and we’re looking for volunteers to help. Whether you’ve planted a thousand trees or if this is your first time, everyone can help! We will provide all the tools, supplies, and training needed for the planting days.
Interested in volunteering? Sign up here for a shift, or just to stay in the loop about days and locations this fall. The plantings are on private property and site locations could shift depending on weather and other factors, so exact locations will not be released until closer to the planting date.
